Newport,

In 1882 Newport,
Oregon became an incorporated city. Today it is a
town of about 10,000 residents. It is located on the gorgeous
central Oregon coastal range. This is the place to be
for outdoor fun and adventure.
Newport, Oregon is
host to several beaches. Nye Beach has a nice sandy
shoreline and is complimented with restaurants,
shopping and lodging. Located about 2 miles south of
Newport you'll find the South Beach State Park and
it's a great beach location equipped with picnic
tables and a campground.

Located in the Yaquina Head Area you will find
Cobble Beach which is loaded with natural habitat.
Newport is well known for it's seafood,
especially the oysters that are harvested from Yaquina Bay. If you want to do
some fishing there are several local charter boats in the Newport area.
Equipment can also be rented if you want to try your hand at crabbing or
clamming.

Oregon Coast
Aquarium - This is home to over 8,000 marine
animals that include sea otters, seals, sharks, and
more! It was listed as one of the country's top ten
by a well known magazine. It is also host to North
America's largest seabird aviary.
Newport's The Wax
Works - This is a museum that showcases wax
figures of famous people and science fiction
creatures.
Oregon Undersea Gardens - Go beneath the
surface of the water and experience many varieties of
ocean life, hosted by a narrator and scuba divers.
Yaquina Head
Lighthouse - Located north of Newport (pictured
above), this
lighthouse is Oregon's largest, towering 93 feet.
Today it is fully automated so you won't meet the
lighthouse keepers but you can enjoy a guided
tour.
