Depoe  Bay, Oregon

Known for whale watching, Depoe Bay, Oregon sits along Oregon Highway 101. It is a beautiful area with a rugged coastline. The town has many restaurants, motels, RV parks and bed and breakfasts. It makes for a perfect getaway for young and old alike.

It's ocean coastal area offers outstanding views of whale watching. The Depoe Bay area is also known for it's great fishing. Whether your looking for crab, salmon, rockfish or cod, it's all here waiting for you. 

The Depoe Bay coastal region showcases many sea caves on it's shores. Be sure to look for geysers (also called spouting horns) created by the ocean waves running underneath basalt rock. They have been calculated by some to rise up to a whopping 70 feet. 

Depoe Bay is filled with locally owned specialty shops, art shops and more. Some of the local attractions include:

Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint - Located south of Depoe Bay, Oregon offers picnic tables and great views of the ocean geysers.

Cape Foulweather - This cape was named in 1778 by Captain James Cook. It is famous for it's heavy wind. But it has beautiful surroundings and wildlife, including sea lions. It can be accessed from the Otter Crest Scenic Loop.

Depoe Bay State Park - If you're into whale watching this is the place to be, depending on the time of the year. Bring a lunch, grab a picnic table and don't forget to visit the Whale Watch Center. It's located on U.S. Highway 101.

Boiler Bay Viewpoint - This is another great place for whale watching. It's located only a mile north of Depoe Bay, Oregon.
