Cannon Beach, Oregon is a quaint town located along the Oregon coast. It's
located about 80 miles west of Portland and about 8 miles south of Seaside,
Oregon. Although the town has a small population of about 1500 residents, it
does offer some attractions you would find in the big city, such as theater,
fine dining and art.

Cannon Beach was named after a ship wrecked in 1846 and the
cannon washed ashore.
It is a beautiful area surrounded with forest and the pacific ocean. Haystack
Rock (pictured here) is nearby and offers spectacular scenery. Its elevation is
about 235 feet above sea level and a highly viewed and photographed.
The Cannon Beach area offers several events and activities:

Ecola State Park - Located just north of Cannon Beach city limits
offers views of lighthouses, Haystack Rock and depending on the time of the year
whale spotting.
Tillamook Rock Lighthouse - It can be viewed from one of Ecola State
Parks viewpoints. It was nicknamed "Terrible Tilly" and has not been
used since 1957.
Arcadia Beach Recreation Site - Located
about 3 miles south of Cannon Beach. It's great place
for picnics, fishing or walking the beach. Open year
round.
Hug Point Recreation Site - Built near a
historic stagecoach trail, it's located about 5 miles
south of Cannon Beach. From here you can get a
excellent view of Haystack Rock. Park usage is
free.
Haystack Holidays - This is the local
Cannon Beach shopping festival that begins in late
November and ends on the New Year. Experience local
shopping, theater and dining. Past events have
included wreath making and lamp lighting.
